18 weeks

Did I ever tell you I'm a huge procrastinator? It's a wonder I ever made it into med school. I attribute that to JD and my mom. Although my mom also has an award in procrastination, she is an excellent planner for others! On par with my usual, I made it half way through the dishes (really wish I had a dishwasher!) before I wondered on to something else.

For pregnancy books, here is the one I recommend: The Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy.
It is practical, straight forward and trust-worthy. It tells you what is known for "why" things happen as they do, and gives you a heads up on what to expect next. What I do NOT recommend are Pregnancy magazines! Talk about a waste of money. I am probably not the typical first-time mom since I gather most of my information from medical journals, books, patient experiences, and guidance from my medical superiors as they advise their patients. However, I picked up 2 magazines for our Victoria trip, costing more than JD's mystery novel, and within an hour was ready to throw them away. I did learn some fun yoga moves that are easy with a pregnant belly though! Next time I will pick up some magazines on decorating - now that is something I know nothing about and always need help on.

Anyway, since I continue to have every symptom known to man, I love randomly thumbing through this book for reassurance. I've often been told that being a medical student makes you paranoid, and soon you have diagnosed yourself with several horrible diseases. You live and work in an academic hospital much of the time, which means being surrounded with every complication or rare condition possible. Luckily, I have not run into this "diagnosing self" issue, but then again, I am rarely sick or even have "symptoms" to be diagnosed....until pregnancy that is, LOL.

On our trip, JD and I couldn't help but notice that every stroller we passed was a "BOB," the new age stroller for the traveller, outdoors family, jogger, or whoever. JD has decided it is a must for our family, so long as he can find a nice one with all the "specs" he wants for a cheaper price than REI! Craigslist?

Anyone have a husband who thinks you are way better than you are? I have one of those. Although I try to "workout" instead of be a coach potato, organize my piles of papers or clean the house before he gets home, save money or even study ahead of time (rather than cram the night before), I rarely succeed. And yet, he thinks I'm great. Wow...I'm lucky. As I didn't post an updated preggo belly pic in the last rambling, (I didn't like the ones JD forced me to take while hiding in the trees away from all the other tourists in Victoria) here is the newest one at 18 weeks. Two weeks until we find out the gender!!
