I made it to Jase and Candice's wedding!!! Super happy to have surprised the hubby - he was glowing and so shocked since he had told everyone that I had to work and wouldn't be there. My super nice Attending let me get out early though, AND had my schedule rearranged to have the next day off as well. So, I left straight from the hospital in my work clothes to catch as much of the wedding as possible. I've never pulled off such a great surprise - didn't tell a soul I was coming :)

If I had done a speech, this is what I would have said...since the D.J. didn't even open up the floor to others!
"So it's not typically customary for the wife of a cousin to say a speech, but it's because Jase is really more like a second brother to my husband, and therefore to me, that I couldn't resist. So I wasn't supposed to be able to be here today, as you can see I'm still in work clothes rather than a nice dress for a wedding, but I couldn't miss this special day! This morning I walked into the room of one of my sickest patient's whose disease made her distrust her husband and literally see fire in his eyes. Today, amazingly, they were laughing and smiling together. Her husband was glowing, and this was a man whom I had only seen with tears in his eyes in helpless grief. I thought, 'wow, their love is true with God-given strength. I really can't miss the union of an equally strong relationship, especially of two people so dear to me and JD.' A few years before JD and I got married, Jase told me one random summer night while camping 'well Mandy, it would be ok with me for you to be a Devine' which I guess was a welcome to the family, and a testament to how genuine Jase truly is. I'm sure you already know his soft heart, Candice. He's one good catch, and I'm happy to say, so is the whole Devine family! I'm, or rather, we're excited to see the love grow between you two! One more thing, clearly I have a new little Devine on the way who is going to need a buddy...so, maybe you two should get on that... Cheers to Jase and Candice!"

Finished my rotation in Bend, sadly leaving the Mother-in-law's comfy home and yummy food, but also happily coming home to JD. The perfect ending was having a family baby shower at my parents' place! What an awesome shower too!! Thank you Mom, Dad, Mother-in-law, and friends/family!! It was really fun, and wow baby has a lot of stuff now! JD and I still haven't figured out how we are going to fit it all in our little place, and his little 9x9ft room.

I am lucky to have a wonderful friend with a great eye, new camera, and some killer photography skills that took most of my favorite shower pics. Thank you all (Lou, mom, and MIL) for the awesome photos during the shower!! These will be great for a baby book, too.

Of the first few nights home, I think I've realized that mothers cook healthier than husbands. I've had horrible heartburn, ugh!! I let JD pick the dinner, which was pizza, apparently his staple over the past month. I should have anticipated that I wouldn't feel great after that! When I was in Bend I now remember discussing JD's difference in food choices (beer x 2-3, pizza, chips + salsa, pickles, breakfast egg sandwiches, etc). He did a great job at draining the house of any sort of sustenance though! LOL.
Well, back to the books and off of procrastinating. My mind wonders from delivery day scares to Halloween plans, Nursery decorating, and what is our guy going to look like, oh and, he really needs a name...

P.S. Went to the Dr. for my 34wk OB check - I've only gained 4lbs over the past 4 weeks in Bend!! Well, still up 30lbs total, but exciting that I didn't gain more because I feel enormous! If you compare the pictures you can tell I grew a lot just in 2 weeks time, too. I go in bouts of being very hungry to being very tired...growth spurts? JD loves feeling/watching his little man move across my tummy now though. He's become quite the kicker. Planning his escape like an alien? Sometimes we poke at him just to get a reaction, hehe. Is he thinking "What is that invading my house? or... Man, my parents are already annoying...they'll learn." LOL.
